Noise and development: when acoustics go wrong!

In the current regulatory environment, consideration of the impact of noise is essential in building and infrastructure developments. Increasing density of metropolitan development in Queensland obviously places noise issues to the fore.

And yet, clients and other industry participants not infrequently overlook or downplay the importance of acoustical requirements, sometimes with calamitous consequences.

Join your colleagues and our guest speaker, acoustic consultant Jay Carter, for an overview of noise regulation in Queensland development and its potential impact on building disputes.

This informative and entertaining presentation will leaven technical and regulatory detail with fascinating anecdotes garnered from years of experience in acoustical consulting. The presentation will have a particular focus on pitfalls and past mistakes in the area and how to avoid them.

Jay Carter has more than 20 years of experience in acoustical consulting in Australia. In that time he has provided acoustical consulting and design services, and conducted noise assessments (including transport noise impact assessments), for many hundreds of projects.

He has been involved in projects as diverse as Commonwealth Games sporting facilities, medical centres, educational facilities, large-scale master-planned projects, industrial developments, retail developments, and numerous residential developments.

Don’t miss this important presentation, or the chance to enjoy refreshments and networking with your colleagues afterwards.
